Paths that Focus on the Divine Feminine

The Goddess comes in many guises

There are spiritual paths where women can find empowerment following traditions both ancient and new. Here you will find links to some of those paths, many of which Mother Suzy has explored in depth, learned from, and come away all the better for the experience. These paths have provided encouragement, inspiration, strength, and refuge to the Goddess Within. All descriptions on this page come from the associated website.

If you are a woman on a quest for such a path, spend a little time beyond these doors:

The Sisterhood of Avalon
The Avalonian Tradition, the spiritual path taught by the Sisterhood of Avalon, takes inspiration from the enclaves of holy women found throughout the Celtic world. These enclaves existed in tandem with druidism, but seemed to serve different cultural purposes. Known to us from classical historians, folk tradition, and legends, these women’s communities have similar attributes: they are closed communities of healers, shapeshifters, oracles, weather workers, and wise women in service to Divinity. The SOA focuses on the British iteration of these enclaves, known as Ynys Afallon — the Island of Avalon.

Covenant of the Goddess
The Covenant of the Goddess, founded in 1975, is an advocacy organization that seeks to foster cooperation amongst Wiccans and Witches; to secure legal protection; to provide education through outreach and to nurture its members through dialog and community.  The Covenant publishes a newsletter; issues ministerial credentials; sponsors a national festival; stands as a resource for information on Witchcraft and Wicca; engages in interfaith work, and local community outreach through its Local Councils.

Temple of Diana
Inspired by the nature and aspects of the goddesses Diana and Artemis as protectors of women and life, Dianic ritual work focuses on personal and global healing, environmental concerns, and a deep commitment to end patriarchal oppression of women and children, both personally and globally. This work involves visioning and striving to create a world where the Web of Life is honored as the sacred creation of the Goddess. It is these feminist values and female-centered ritual practices of Dianic tradition that have so deeply influenced and inspired the contemporary goddess movement.

Daughters of the Flame (Obsidian Magazine)
The Daughters of the Flame maintain Brigit's Sparkling Flame - a blog which lists Brigit-connected websites, books, articles, CDs, etc. We are finding and reclaiming spiritual direction in the stories and symbolism of Brigit in her many guises. Brigit's Brightest Blessings to us All.

Brigid's Flame
Return to the Wild Heart of the Sacred Feminine.

Daughters of the Flame
Daughters of the Flame is a sacred return and a revolutionary step forward. Not just a path, but a structure. A spiritual body strong enough to hold us all. As enduring as the churches men built for themselves - but shaped by the matriarchy, fed by the earth, and lit by the fire of collective womanhood. In a world that keeps stripping our rights and silencing our voices, this is our answer. A sanctuary. A force. A flame.
