RHIMES New Monastics

ON January 1, 2023, the Universal Anglican Interspiritual Church announced the RHIMES New Monastics Program. Initially, members who had completed a path of discernment and study were to have been called "monks." However, after much consideration and discussion, the development committee came to the conclusion that the term "monk" was neither appropriate nor desirable from an Interspiritual perspective.

As of March 22, the program is known as RHIMES Interspiritual Companions.

Brigid in the Desert declared itself the first virtual program to form under this program. Brigid consists of two levels: Companions and Kindred.

Interspiritual Companions

A Companion is anyone who dedicates themselves to finding a deeper sense of the sacred, whatever that means for them. An Interspiritual Companion is a person who lives an intentional life of contemplation and service. Companions may live alone, with roommates, or with family and will live and work in the world rather than in a monastery or temple.

Kindred

Kindred are those individuals who are interested in living a life in which spirituality plays a major part and who have an interest in the particular form of interspirituality that we at Brigid call "Christopagan." Kindred may or may not wish to pursue the more dedicated life of a Companion. Kindred are able to access all publicly available posts and resources.

We are inclusive

The greater UAIC and Brigid in the Desert welcome interested persons regardless of gender, beliefs, background, or whom they love.

Those who choose to apply to the Companion program and are approved will gain access to the inner Haven online as well as all public space. If you are interested in applying to be a Companion, please send an email to Mother Suzy at the address on this page.
